For example, MTI uses multiple voice gateway platforms, each with redundant power supplies, redundant network interface cards, and RAID-5 technology. The redundant power supplies are each connected toredundant UPS systems. The redundant NICs are each connected to redundant internal LANs. The redundant power supplies, NICs, and RAID-5 technology create high-availability, while the use of multiple voice gateway platforms provides high redundancy. This high-availability strategy covers most common “disaster” events, such as a power loss, or a LAN segment failure.
